Lead Frame Grooving: Precision, Burr and Consistency Control

Precision: lead frame strip is thin and rigid-weak — prone to deformation during grooving. The machine needs a rigid bed and high-resolution servos for smooth feed; fixtures must support the strip evenly with no unsupported spans. Cut depth in multiple passes to reduce per-pass cutting force.
Burr: burrs scratch the strip surface and hurt plating quality. Use sharp high-rake tools, manage tool wear cycles and apply suitable coolant to minimize burr; add online burr detection if needed.
Consistency: mass-production consistency relies on locked parameters and real-time inspection. Standardize feed, depth and tool life; monitor groove width/depth live and alarm on drift to stop batch defects.
Equipment advice: prefer machines with lead frame experience, real-time inspection and rigid beds; always run trial grooving on your thin strip before bulk ordering.
